  • Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality defines itself as the "Health Services ARM of the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services" and "home to research centers that specialize in
major areas of healthcare research including quality improvement and patient safety, outcomes
and effectiveness or care, clinical practice and technology assessment. Its goal is to "build a
knowledge base for what works and doesn't work in health and healthcare and to translate this
knowledge into everyday practice and policymaking". This website is a goldmine of practical
information that will lead to changes in nursing best practices. It's colorful and easy to navigate.

  • Nursing Institute of Nursing Research is one of over 25 institutes and centers making up the
    national institutes of health. It was elevated to the status of an institute in 1993. Quite an honor
    recognizing nursing's contribution to a body of scientific knowledge. NINR's annual budget has
    grown to nearly $138 million which funds grants for clinical and basic research by institutions
    and individuals as well as training programs in clinical research for nurses interested in
    research as a career specialty.  This website has a wealth of accurate and reliable information
    for the clinical nurse.

  • Includes a link to international cancer research portfolio (ICRP) that allows users to search and
    sort cancer research by type of cancer, area of research or funding organization.  It also has a
    research area that includes grant writing resources as well as a clinical practice area.
